The Princes of Ireland
My parents gave me the book The Princes of Ireland: The Dublin Saga written by Edward Rutherfurd for Easter today. Has anyone read that book? And if you have, what are your thoughts about it? Thanks! And have a happy Easter! :)

First Topic - "Writing the Natural Way"
This first challenge is really a marker. Its purpose is to give you a point a reference to see how your writing was before you began this series of "lessons" and after you have completed a few chapters. I will differentiate between chapters in subsequent posts. This, of course, is chapter one. *grin*

For the following items, limit yourself to 10 minutes on each, regardless of how much of that time you actually spend writing. Do not worry about how much or little you think of to write about each item. Your minimum should be a few sentences and your maximum a page at most for each entry.

1. Write something about yourself. Do so from any perspective you wish.

2. Describe a feeling, such as fear, love, sadness & joy.

3. Write about someone you care for.

4. Write anything you can think of about the word "write."

You have one week to complete this activity before the next one will be posted.

Remember to only respond with a link to the post in your journal. Feel free to link to this post from your response; perhaps others will be interested in taking part. I look forward to seeing everyone's work.

Here's my take on the assignment...
Her Tech Jacket from Eddie Bower performed as the ad had said it would. When the first rays of sun burst through the thick clouds and reflected brightly on the snow capped hills that lay below Overlook Mountain, the jacket began to charge. Sara thought the sun was magnificent as the solar cells she wore converted and stored electricity. The jacket powered her ipod, and the small thermal pack she wrapped around her to keep warm. She had worried at the overcast morning, but her weather band radio had predicted afternoon sun. She’d been right in trusting it. The jacket, as the ad had said, did make winter camping much more enjoyable.

Reading on Sunday (March 7th) at an Open Mic Night Reading...

here are some of the poems i am thinking of reading... I just fixed them up... comments? recommendations of fixes?

THANKS ALL! :)

WHOLE (02/21/04)

I just wanna be whole.
Embrace the wind
taste the stars
know this is right.

Want to be complete.
Share my firey passionate eyes
reveal my hearts desires
have it all play out far better
than i could dream.

Be centered.
Find the place that i know
that will get me where i should go
with the person i want to hold
caress all day and night.

To be in the presence of that one.
Whose scent draws me tightly
ropes me in thought circles
knows how to allow sweet comfort
understands my soul.

Alive.
Is what i am
but i lack that zest
that wakes me up.

I long to be whole.
Engulfed like ramen noodles
with you by my side
devouring your lips
dreaming with you at every moment.

I wait to be whole with you again.

i ain't as confused and dumb as I act... (02/23/04)

i ain't as confused and dumb as I act...
problem is that I don't want to know how to back.

i fear the unknown
but am fully aware
so what could make me run
like a small white hare?

it is a question many ask
but few get a true answer
for in many ways
im not ready to admit
i know and can survive all this banter.

for it is the future i fear
with all the solutions
i sleep

so why won't i let them out
and let the world stop the weep
casue i know if I do
i will be burdened like pandora

to let out the secrets
deep down inside my heart
to let someone in
would tear me apart

i guess you just have to deal
and realize its true
im an enigma
wrapped in a riddle
wrapped inside of you.

The Beast Within (02/23/04)

deep inside
a part of me rests
that lives in the light
but thrives in the darkness best

passionate
strong
primal
like the rest

but needs comfort
hugs
kisses
and yes sex

from inside it waits
protecting the host
just trying to allow
a metamorphosis
i suppose

it knows the bearer
will transform
contort
change
like the rest

but the bearer
so small
childish
undressed

with great power
comes a responsibility
he is not ready to take

so the beast waits
for an embrace
or a taste

devouring its lover
in pleasurable moans
the lover collapses
enjoys all the throws

the bearer
enjoys the passion
that has ensued

but feels knows
its mate
is not true

so he bides
his time
waiting
till the day

when the boy
can awaken
and finally
say

i am a man
this is my life
she is my wife
this is my house
my future
my immortality

i'm finally at peace.

Who am I? (02/05/04)

Disclaimer: The following piece of literary work comes solely from my twisted dimented imaginative sensitive childish mind, and is meant to amuse and educate.

Who am I?

Im the product of
a care bear and a gummi bear 's
one night stand in the forest:
for all i want to do is hug, bounce, and please.

Im a digital rubix cube
where the lights keep randomly changin,
but they only change when you are so....
close....
to....
finishing...
the damn puzzle.

Im Ron Jeremy
stuck in a less hairier man's
body who wants to fuck around
but only to please an audience:
YOU.

Im a smurf
who just wants to have fun >> all the time
have sex >> all the time
cause in that moment:
YOU are smurfette and Im ready for action!

Im a comforter
and you are the heavenly person
I get to comfort tonight
*wink wink*

You're a person
wandering in the desert
and Im the water
to quench your thirst.

Im the friend
you need
when you don't even realize
you need one.

Im an enigma
wrapped in a riddle
wrapped in an ice cream sundae
and you're lactose intolerant.

Im an expensive luxury car
that warms your ass
on those cold nights.

So yah... what am I to you?
it really depends...
just understand
you got my trust
you got my heart
even if you haven't earned it yet.

Im weird
defuncted
freaky
caring
sensual...

HUMAN.

The beginning.
